New High Score on Tocker’s Trials Normal mode! (And I can FOR SURE go higher. 900k should be possible)

Today is the last day to work on Tocker’s Trials and right now the big focus is improving something that almost every dev gets wrong… difficulty.

When you are working on a game, seeing it every day, playing it every day, doing nothing but thinking about that game…your view on what is appropriate difficulty is WAAYYYYY off. You have to remember that you are easily in the Top 0.0001% of skill level of people who will play your game, and that means you aren’t going to be the best judge, and have to fight your urges to think that you’re skill is players skill.

That’s not to say you need to “Make the game easy” or anything. This isn’t me saying all difficulty is bad (trust me, you’ll see Chaos mode). But I am stressing that every game dev needs to remember that they aren’t the audience here.

The best way to prove this to yourself, is if a game that you worked on has been out for more than a year after you worked on it or played it, go back and try it again. You’ll surprise yourself how much harder it feels.

Anyway, excited for y’all to get your hands on the final version of Tocker’s Trials. What goes to PBE on Friday should be that final version with properly tuned fights and everything. Can’t wait! Have a good Tuesday, and take it easy 🙂

Now I’m wondering if 1 million is possible O_O
