One of the things that makes me sad, is seeing a lot of potential in kids (I’m allowed to say this, I’m old), but not having the confidence in themselves or the mental fortitude to overcome adversity.
To all people who want to be competitive and accomplish great things in life, you will have set backs. What will set you apart is how you deal with those, and bounce back even stronger. Learning experiences will make you better.
Soiling those learning experiences with toxicity and lashing out is only holding yourself back from accepting and focusing on the things you can do to improve. You’ll never be as great as you want to be if this is the path you choose to take.
When I was a junior designer at Nintendo, I had one of the Nintendo greats tell me “You don’t have what it takes to be a Nintendo designer” in my second year. I took that as a key learning opportunity, focused on what I needed to change, and over time, that same great came to be a good mentor and help ship a couple games.
So to all you gamers out there who want to be better, stop posting things like “mortdog found dead” in twitch chat, and focus on improving yourself. I promise you’ll be happier, and get better. It will lead you to greater things.
Ok, time to enjoy the holiday. Took my daughter to Inside Out 2 last night which was fun. We’re going to our favorite resturaunt later as a final time before the move. Have a good day, and take it easy 🙂
