Finding a way to bring a surprise smile into your game is good for both the players, and the devs working on them!
Last week I overheard some of the team laughing and joking about adding something to the next set. They were having a good time about it, but weren’t actually serious about adding it, because they were unsure they’d be allowed to. It was that type of energy where you see people excited about and idea, but unsure they’d get approval to do the idea.
For small stuff like that, if you put it in the game it just brings a smile to people when they discover it, and let’s the devs who worked on it get to add their own flair to the game in a way they really own. Really just a win win!
One of the best examples of this was in Fates, when @Chaemirix was excited about wrapping up the set he was leading, and needed something for Fortune…so he put in the extra effort to make sure that if we dropped the player a boot, and you had one of the three new little legends at the time, the boot would go on their head.
And again, as a lead or production manager, your instinct might be to go “That’s not worth the time and effort, don’t waste time on that.” But for something so small and unique, it always is worth it. Don’t let it get bogged down by process…just help make it a reality and bring smiles to the players and your team!
That’s it for me today. Hope you all have a great week, and try to find ways to bring smiles to yourself and those you care about. I’m on campus 3 days this week wrapping up this round of REDACTED. Have fun, and take it easy 🙂
