The future roadmap for TFT is amazing, and it absolutely pains me sometimes to not be able to talk about it!

As the TFT team has grown, we’re now in a wild world where we are planning features as far as 2 years out. This is super healthy on the dev side, and also means players are going to get big improvements as we go, beyond what they’re already getting like new sets and modes. As someone who also deeply loves TFT, it’s exciting!

But it’s funny because it creates a situation where sometimes players come up to me and ask “Have you thought about improving X?” and I have to reply “Oh yeah hmmmm we’ll look into it…” but in the back of my mind I wanna say “Yup, agree and we already have a solve and it’s slated to be worked on during MONTH and released on PATCH.” It’s such a weird spot to be in.

But it is super important we don’t over commit or promise, so we shouldn’t change this strategy or anything. The thing about roadmaps is things change, and plans change. We made this mistake once early in TFT where we promised a feature was on a roadmap, and then it took more than 3 years to deliver it. Not a good thing.

All of this is to say that as I talked to my boss yesterday and we outlined everything in flight, we both had a sense of “Wow, we’re doing all this, this is great!” Which is awesome! Now as someone who communicates with players a lot via learnings articles, stream, and these posts, I have to find the right line on what to say without spoiling anything. But for now, I’ll leave you with “Some good stuff cooking!”

That’s it for me this week. I’ll be deep in TFT world this weekend with streams and watching tournaments, so will be fun times. Have a good weekend, and take it easy 🙂
