Note B-Patch comments: Small B patch later today. The team decided to go quite light, targetting Trickshot, Lillia, Syndra, and Ornn.

To me, there is nothing more enjoyable than approaching a problem and trying to come up with a solution in the most elegant way possible. The raw act of designing, even after 20 years, is still just so satisfying to me.

In the professional world, there’s a lot that goes into your time. It could be various team meetings, managerial work, mentorship time, you name it. Not all your time goes into that core work, and this becomes more and more true the further you move up. Which is crazy since I feel like I’ve never been stronger at it.

Well, quite a bit in the last month I’ve been asked to go do that raw design work. “Hey can you solve X” or “Go and design a plan for X”, and I gotta say, it’s been super nice to just use those skills I’ve been acquiring for so long and just destroy those asks. It reinvigorates me and reminds me that, yes, even after almost 20 years, I still do love designing video games. Good times!

All of this to say, that if I can offer one piece of wisdom, a lot of people always ask “How do you not burn out?” For me the secret has been to really understand what parts of my job I enjoy and which ones I don’t, and make sure to leave time for the parts I do while still being useful to the teams I work on. Find the parts of your job that really bring you smiles, and make sure you find a way to keep doing that.

The only wild thing is that TFT is finally in a place where we can work on stuff that is 1 or more years away, so some of these projects are a long way off…but it’s also exciting seeing where the game is headed.

TLDR – It’s too lit!

That’s it for today. Small B patch later today. The team decided to go quite light, targetting Trickshot, Lillia, Syndra, and Ornn. Full details in a few hours. Otherwise have a great Thursday and take it easy 🙂
