The probability of getting Kayn Encounter has increased starting Patch 14.9 and @kenobi_TFT@twitter.com has some pointers on how to play it.

What to Avoid
Don’t play an Exodia comp that comes together when you have only one life left and expect to win out from there. For example, don’t play Fortune beyond Stage 2 or open fort for more than one stage or else your HP will be too low.
Your board doesn’t have to be very strong because the last PvP round will be at 5-3. It’s imperative to win Stage 4. Avoid comps that require Level 9 to spike.
What Works Compared to Standard Games?
This patch doesn’t reward rolling at 3-2 but you can roll a bit with Kayn Encounter. If you open fort stage 2 to play Ghostly in stage 3, it’ll work better here vs standard TFT.
The problem with Ghostly and other reroll comps in standard TFT is that you have to win starting Stage 3. This works until Stage 5 when opponents get legendaries at level 9. But level 9 doesn’t exist with Kayn since Stage 5 is abbreviated.
An Augment that isn’t taken much except w/ Kayn Encounter is “Going Long”. The problem w/ Going Long is it’s difficult to build econ for a strong level 9 board late game. But since late game doesn’t exist with Kayn, it’ll give you the benefit (good tempo) w/o the downside.
