I was watching Setsuko last night for a bit, hanging out with another co-worker. His stream is such a unique experience compared to every other stream, which honestly is really smart when trying to create a successful stream. Which is funny because that’s not his goal. He’s clearly just vibing and being himself, which is always cool to see.

It got me thinking about how much he’s changed over the last few years, and how much we’ve watched him evolve in his TFT play, his personality, his approach, and more. In a way, streaming has allowed us to watch him grow up along the way. It’s something that wasn’t really possible 10-15 years ago.

And that’s something new for game devs that is extremely powerful. The ability to, at almost any time of day, watch your players interact with your game. The amount you can learn at any time is almost overwhelming, but so insanely valuable. Especially for games that are going to get updates/adjustments post launch, there’s almost no excuse for not having a deep understanding of your players.

The one thing to note is to make sure you watch and understand a wide variety of players. Find the streamers with 1-10 viewers who are struggling in low ranks. Find the streamers who normally main other games but are giving yours a try. Getting wide understanding will help make the right decisions for your game. And the fact that all these insights are just sitting there available 24 hours a day is insane!

Anyway, to anyone who has ever streamed TFT, even for just an hour, thank you. Watching players like you, even if you don’t know, helps us make a better game, and gives us motivation to keep on going. Thank you.

That’s it for me this week. Long day today, but I’ll be streaming PBE checking out 14.10. I want to try Animal Well also, but it’s Mother’s Day. Don’t forget! Have a good weekend, and take it easy 🙂
