I’ve mentioned a couple times how TFT is a global game, and that means launching things can be very complicated. This patch is a great example of that.
Due to a national holiday in CN, the patch ended up launching early in that region. This meant we weren’t able to do our final adjustments we wanted to do that usually happen on Monday. But at the same time, this is necessary so players get the 14.9 experience at all, so it has to happen. From here, we have to make tough calls and trade offs with this decision.
The negative of course is that players have issues with the patch that we are expecting, such as Trash to Treasure still being enabled, leading to some wild artifact combos being too easy to replicate. There were also some other issues that cropped up.
But, glass half full, this also allowed us some quick wider scale testing we don’t normally get. While we were already planning a micropatch, we were also able to get in a few more fixes to it that will help stabilize the patch even further for the rest of the world, including some issues you may have seen in some posts on here. So for the rest of the world, should be a solid 14.9.
So what does this mean exactly? Patch notes will be up later today, but things that weren’t in the rundown you can expect are Trash to Treasure being disabled, Cursed Blade being disabled until we can fix the 0 HP issue, and some bug fixes around weird shops, Crownguarded, Luden’s, Trench Coat, and Prowler’s Claw. Good stuff.
And that was just a small part of our Monday. Shout out to the team members who worked on this yesterday, as it came together fast and was making the best of an unusual situation. But like I said, it’s part of being a global game and a live service game. Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.
I’m in office the next two days working on REDACTED so I’m likely slower to respond and see things, but 14.9 goes live for the rest of the world over the next 24 hours. Will be fun to see how it all shakes out. Have a great day, and take it easy 🙂
