This comp has a lot of nuance and is harder to grasp. In comparison the Arcanist comp is simpler and easier to navigate.

Here’s an example of a straightforward early board.

Another version is the same board but with Ahri instead of Kog’Maw. In this case look for more Arcanists in stage 3 before pivoting to a board with Annie/Lillia

he stage 3 level 6 board is cheap and the power level will depend on the quality/quantity of items and which units you put them on.

tage 4 is where it gets tricky. You can play a variety of units. Annie is independently strong and doesn’t need another frontline unit to be useful but here are some duo combos to consider.

The goal is to get to level 9 as quickly as possible. Itemized Alune 2* will get you there; no need to roll for Lillia 2* especially if you have a lot of HP. This varies game to game so pay attention

The final board looks similar to this. You can also play Udyr instead of Lisssandra in which case play Tahm Kench as opposed to Neeko.
You can also play Janna instead of Kog’Maw, Rakan instead of Lissandra, and Udyr instead of Neeko.
Lots of options!

Itemization
Early game, Neeko holds tank items better than Cho’Gath. If you get Illaoi first, itemize her.
Gargoyle, Warmog + 1 is perfect for Neeko and go on Annie later.
Blue Buff is better on Lillia than Shojin but to win early rounds you need to make the first mana item you can.
Shojin is better on Ahri, and if you can make it on 2-1, slam it and don’t greed for BB, especially since you can put Shojin on Alune or Azir.
Afterwards you need AP items like Rabadon’s or Archangel. Your 3rd Lillia item can be JG or Nashor’s.
You want to get to level 9 with lots of HP and to do so you’ll need to make items as soon as possible.
Augments
- Mana Shield is excellent and better with 6 Invokers
- Jeweled Lotus for extra damage
- Magic Wand for extra damage
- Raining Gold on 2-1 allows you to be strong level 8 into level 9
- +1 Invoker obviously
Final thoughts
- To perfect this comp you’ll need to understand the different frontline combinations at stage 4. Test by playing Annie + duos previously listed
- Make mana generating items as fast as possible to save HP
- If the lobby is weak, go fast 9
