TL;DR Gnar gained tons of AD on first 2 casts, less on 4th cast.

Gnar is pretty much the only viable reroll at the moment terrorizing the convergence. Here’s a short thread on explanation of the changes and numbers on how much he was actually buffed.

The Changes

Gnar max stacks on passive went from 50 to 25, but each stack is now 4% AP conversion to AD to compensate for each Titan’s stack going from 2 AP to 1 AP. Sounds like a neutral change right? Well, it would be if Titan’s was the only source of AP for Gnar.

Modeling

…but Gnar actually has a surprisingly high amount of AP from Dryad, BT, and arcanist in his build. This is the modeling with BT, 2x Titans. As can be seen, he gains far more AD early on in the new patch, and it takes 40+ stacks for 14.7 to catch up.

Raw AD Increase

The yellow highlighted stacks are when you can expect Gnar to cast. As can be seen Gnar gains a massive 48% extra AD on 1st cast with 4 Dryad, going up to 83% on 2nd cast, before finally going back down due to Titan’s nerf. That’s more than a Deathblade.

Total Damage Increase by %

Here is the total damage increase by % compared to the old patch. The first 2 casts are massively buffed, allowing Gnar to get through frontlines easier, and while the later casts are nerfed, by then Gnar is already hitting the backlines.

Clement just wanted to show mathematically how the changes were not neutral, and functioned as quite large buffs. The damage increase actually would not be that crazy if Gnar was just hitting 4-cost tanks that also got a buff to their HP pools, but that doesn’t work until stage 4.
