Dev Hour #2 is up, where myself, Witty, and Giovanni go over EVERY 2 cost we’ve ever made and make a tier list of them. Check it out here:

Dev Hour #2 Ranking All 2 Costs

While this might just look like silly player facing content, it actually serves a couple very important purposes internally as well, so if you can find the time to do this sort of exercise, it’s quite valuable.

First, after almost 5 years of TFT development, taking a minute to reflect and understand the lessons of the past are important. It can be hard to keep it all organized in your head, or remember every thing you’ve ever done. But going back and talking about the successes and failures helps frame things in a way so that as you continue to make more content, you can prevent the same mistake from happening again, or push on those successes. It also helps align the 3 of us as devs who may not always agree, but keeps us sharing a same player serving perspective.

Second, not everyone on the TFT team has been around for all 5 years. We get new members all the time, who may not be aware of everything that was done or how it landed at the time. These actually serve as something new team members can use as onboarding to understand more about TFT development frameworks of good and not. Having good onboarding onto a new team is always hard, and its gets harder the more time passes. Imagine being League or WoW and trying to onboard new devs after 15-20 years! That’s a lot to keep track of.

So hopefully you find this interesting. Also as players, I’m curious from all of you if there’s anything we put on this list you just think we were way off on.

Something we said was good you thought was terrible, or vice versa. Always helps to reconfirm what players think as well! So leave a comment after watching if you felt we were off. Ok that’s it for today. Patch tomorrow I know a lot of people are looking forward to. Until then, take it easy 🙂
