When you play AP it’s important to have Shred to get through enemy resistances, so you need to make an appropriate item and also position accordingly. Here are two examples ⬇️

In this scenario, to help Syndra kill targets, Ionic Spark is placed on the tank (Thresh). The problem here is he’s applying Shred to only the 2 units around him but on the wrong side.

Always put your carry on the same side as your Ionic carrier or else you’re playing down an item.

In this Lux reroll game, the intent is to kill the backline. Ionic has limited reach and only Shreds the frontline. Statikk Shiv can get to the backline once non-itemized frontline units are killed (or in early game) because the item hits 4 units.

Ionic helps with arcanist units like Syndra, Zoe, Lissandra etc. It’s not made to make one, especially if done early to tempo, &/or manage item economy.

Just remember to position as necessary when you do.
