This is a technique that some CN pros use. They believe you can manipulate your augments on 3-2/4-2 by controlling the active traits on your board.

How to Do It

When you’re shown your augments on 3-2/4-2, you can change your board before rerolling them. Place only the units that would activate traits you’re seeking emblems for and bench the rest, then reroll to increase your odds of finding them.

Positive Tailoring

Here’s an example that happened in the Huya cup. Godlike is looking for Porcelain/Arcanist+1, so he tailors his board before rerolling his augments and then hits the one he wants. It’s also believed saying the augment out-loud helps!

Negative Tailoring

You can also do the opposite to NOT hit unwanted augments. Here Huanmie is looking for Two for One. He doesn’t want any +1 emblems, so he clears his board till only Trickshot is there (a trait with no emblem). An empty board apparently goes full random.

Should this Work?

No, the intended rules is that tailoring should only take into account your previous board at 3-1/4-1. But CN pros have been doing it since S9. Here are the “Intended Rules” from mismatched socks back in season 8.

…But does it Work?

Not 100% sure, but anecdotally it does seem to work, and it’s frequently done by CN pros. Tailoring mechanics were never fully explained. Qitu when asked by viewers on how this works: “If you have the time, you should do it”.

One response to “Set 11 CN Augment Manipulation Tech”

  1. You might be looking at another bug. I was playing a game last night (before I saw this post by you) and had only Ghostly active on 4-1, and the following round showed me Mythic Crown. It seems as if tailoring outright isn’t working.
